We say "innit" a lot and call everyone "mate." Birmingham is also incredibly diverse - over 30% of residents are from ethnic minorities, making it one of Britain's most multicultural cities.

The Balti Triangle was incredible - I'm from London and thought I knew curry, but Birmingham's Balti is different and amazing. We went to Spitfire and the food was phenomenal - so flavorful, not greasy like some London curry. The atmosphere was brilliant too. Can't believe I'd never been to Birmingham before!

The Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery blew me away - the Pre-Raphaelite collection is outstanding. And it's free! I spent three hours there. The Back to Backs tour was fascinating - such an intimate glimpse into Victorian working-class life. I learned so much about industrial Birmingham.

The canal walk was surprisingly beautiful - Birmingham has more canals than Venice! Walking along the old industrial waterways with all the converted warehouses and new developments was fascinating. The city has transformed so much. The Beetham Tower observation was a perfect end to the day.

Cadbury World was amazing - so much more than I expected! Learning about the history of chocolate, seeing how it's made, and all the free samples... I bought way too much to take home. Bournville Village is beautiful too - such a contrast to the city centre. Birmingham surprised me completely.
New York, NY | December 2025
The day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon was perfect. Shakespeare's Birthplace was so much more interesting than I expected - the costumed guides brought the history alive. Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried gave me chills. Birmingham makes an ideal base for exploring the Midlands.

I didn't know what to expect from Birmingham but I was really impressed. The Custard Factory in Digbeth is so cool - full of creative businesses and street art. Birmingham's diversity is its strength - the food options are incredible, from balti to Chinese to everything in between. The city has real energy.
