Lake Bled was everything I dreamed of and more! The pletna boat ride to the island, climbing the 99 steps, and ringing the wish bell—absolutely magical. The Bled cream cake lived up to every hype. Slovenia is such an underrated gem.
The Soča Valley rafting was the highlight of our European trip. The emerald water is even more beautiful in person than in photos. Our guide, Luka, made the experience unforgettable with his knowledge of local history and wildlife. Pure adventure!
As an Italian, I was surprised by how much Piran reminded me of Venice but without the crowds. The seafood was incredible, and walking through the narrow streets at sunset was romantic beyond words. Skofja Loka was a beautiful surprise too—completely charming.
Lake Bohinj is what Lake Bled probably looked like 50 years ago—untouched and peaceful. Kayaking there at sunrise was a spiritual experience. The Vintgar Gorge walk is a must-do, and the alpine cheese we tried at the farm was absolutely divine.
Postojna Cave completely blew my mind—the underground train ride through those massive caverns was like being on another planet. And Predjama Castle built into the cliff face? Incredible engineering from the 13th century. Slovenia packs serious wow factor into a small country.
Ljubljana in winter is so charming! The Christmas market by the river, the castle lit up at night, the dragon bridge—all beautiful. The locals are so warm despite the cold. Had the best jota stew at a family-run restaurant near Triple Bridge. Slovenia is Central Europe's hidden treasure!
The Julian Alps in winter are magical! We went sledding down Vogel mountain with Lake Bled as our backdrop—unbelievable views. The cave dining experience in Postojna was so unique, eating under stalactites. Slovenia in winter is like a fairytale, much cheaper than Swiss Alps!
Visiting a traditional Slovenian beekeeper to learn about apiculture was fascinating! The mede and propolis tastings were healthy and delicious. Lake Bled from a SUP board at sunrise was peaceful—the island's church bell echoing across the water was magical. Perfect active weekend getaway!
Paragliding over Lake Bled was insane! The aerial view of the island church and castle was incredible. The Tolmin hiking trails through the Soča Valley were spectacular—wildflowers everywhere. Slovenia is perfect for adventure seekers without the Alpine crowds.
The food scene in Ljubljana surprised me! Loved the open kitchen concept at Metelkova and the craft beer scene. The Slovenian pršut and wine from Goriška Brda were divine. Learning about the country's recent history at the museums was eye-opening and moving.
Wine tasting in Goriška Brda near the Italian border was a highlight! The teran wine and the Prosciutto San Daniele-style pršut were amazing. Cycling through vineyards with views of the Julian Alps was pure bliss. This region should be on everyone's bucket list!
Lipizzaner horses at Lipica stud farm were magnificent! Watching the classical dressage performance and learning about their 400-year breeding history was fascinating. The Karst region's prosciutto and teran wine pairing was the perfect end to an incredible day exploring Slovenia's diverse regions.
